The Word Yinz

For those of you who read this blog and are not from Pittsburgh, PA or know nothing about the region you may wonder where a word like Yinzertainment comes from. Here is a little background on it. The word is a combination of Yinz and Entertainment, hence Yinzertainment. That is the easy part.

The real question is what is the word Yinz? Yinz is most commonly used in southwestern Pennsylvania and the Appalachian Region. In Pittsburgh it is part of a local dialect known as Pittsburghese. The word is derived from "you ones" and is an alternative to words like you all or "y'all" as many people from the south say. A Typical use would be something like; What are yinz up to today? How are Yinz doing? Where are Yinz going?

For more background on this word and other Pittsburghese check out Wikipedia or the Pittsburgh Speech & Society website

Wallstrip

I found Wallstrip on a blog I read called A VC. Wallstip has been posted a few times since I began reading the blog and I have been both entertained and educated each time I have watched. There is a post on A VC that has a good description of what Wallstip is all about. Check out the latest Wallstrip on Kellogs below.

Windows Live Stadium Tour: Wrigley Field

When Microsoft released its Maps portion of Live.com they had a fairly limited coverage of Bird's Eye View. Over the past year or so that I have been using the site this feature alone has been greatly improved. Not only has the coverage expanded, but they have also made the navigation much more user friendly. My favorite thing to use this feature for is checking out all of the stadiums. I've decided to start posting some that I've found so far. I'm going to begin with Wrigley Field home of the Chicago Cubs since baseball season is just underway.

Spider-Man 3

It is under a month now until Spider-Man 3 is released in theaters. I have fairly high expectations for this movie because of how good the past two movies were, but mostly I'm looking forward to seeing Venom. I am not an avid comic book collector, but when I was younger my brothers and I used to get subscriptions in the mail. My younger brother had one for the Amazing Spider-Man and I still remember him receiving issue #316, the first time I had seen Venom and to this day he is still one of my top 3 villains.

How to Remove Red Eye Using Photoshop

I am a casual user of Photoshop and I have tried for a while now to learn a good way to remove red eye from pictures. Recently while doing a Google search on the subject I found a method that I was extremely impressed by and it is pretty easy and quick. A website called the Luminous Landscape is where I found this method. It was easy enough that I literally went through all of the pictures on my hard drive within about an hour.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game MultiReview

I was very excited recently to see the the old 1989 Konami Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : The Arcade Game was released on Xbox Live Arcade. This game brings me back to my childhood and my love for the Turtles. I also have been wishing for about 15 years for Konami to release this game on a home console (granted my need for it has diminished a bit over the years). Now that it is finally here, I decided to gather some reviews from around the web and see what people think about it now. Below is my MultiReview for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: The Arcade Game on Xbox Live Arcade.
