BCS

After watching College Bowl games for the past few days, I have realized once again how flawed the College Football & the BCS system is. There are two major changes that I feel would greatly improve College Football.

1. Remove Preseason Rankings
2. Make the BCS National Championship game a real Championship game.

To explain further, removing the preseason rankings I feel would improve the rankings at the end of the year. Take this year for example; Boise State and Ohio State were the only remaining undefeated teams after the regular season. But because Boise State was unranked at the start of the season, they were left out of the National Championship game. One more example is LSU. They currently have two losses, but they are ranked ahead of one loss teams like Wisconsin, and Louisville based on where they started in preseason rankings. I guess I don't understand why teams are ranked based on the previous year? You always here quotes like "that is why they play the games", yet ranking teams before games are played makes little sense.

In regards to my second point, since there is very little chance of having a playoff, why not take the top four teams, and have them play plus one format. For those of you not familiar with this, it would be set up so the winner of the first two bowls would face each other in a second bowl to determine a Champion. There is no reason to change any of the other bowls, just add one extra game.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Feel free to post your thoughts.
