TV on DVD

I am very excited that Sopranos and Entourage are starting again this Sunday on HBO. These are two of my favorite shows and the unique thing about each of them is that I only started watching them in the past year. I'm not sure who originated the idea of selling TV shows on DVD, but I think it is one of the best decisions that has been made in the entertainment industry. TIVO and other DVR services are great, but if it weren't for TV shows being available on DVD, I would never have been able to enjoy either of these shows. I blogged before about the possibility of not paying for cable anymore and instead buying shows on iTunes, and renting them from Netflix. As I stated in that blog, watching sports would be one potential problem with that system, but another is the fact that HBO does not release any of its shows on iTunes.

Scrubs

For anyone who has never watched an episode of Scrubs I would recommend checking it out at least once. It is in the middle of its sixth season now and I just started watching it myself. I'm not the kind of person that watches many shows, but a friend of mine told me that I should rent the first couple season from Netflix. I haven't totally taken his advice, but I have been watching the reruns on Comedy Central from time to time. For me it is one of few shows that makes me laugh every episode more than once, and not just a slight chuckle, a full bodied laugh. Check it out, you just might enjoy yourself!

Movie of the Week 003

In honor of my trip to Vegas for work this week, my pick for movie of the week is Swingers. For me, this movie is Vince Vaughn at his very best. From the classic one liner’s this movie spawned, to the “Making Gretzky’s head bleed” scene, he gives this movie life. So if you are a Vince Vaughn fan, or just want to laugh and enjoy a good movie, get to your local video store and rent it, or add it to your Netflix Que.

Movie of the Week 002

This week, my movie pick is Office Space. This is a great movie to end the work week with. With all of the humor, and classic scenes this movie provides, it is a great movie to just sit back and enjoy. So go rent it, or add it to your Netflix Que.

Movie of the Week 001

My wife and I typically end up watching at least one movie on the weekends. In honor of this, I have decided that every Friday I will recommend a movie to watch over the weekend.

Today, my recommendation is Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Directed by Guy Richie and set in London's ganglands, this movie is full of witty comedy, and surprising twists that will keep your attention until the very end. With a great cast, boasting many virtually unknown actors when the film was released, including Jason Statham, Jason Flemyng, Sting and Vinnie Jones (who in my opinion steals the movie). And as an added bonus, don't forget to check out the "Cockney Dictionary" in the bonus features section of the DVD.

So take the time this weekend to go to your local video store or add this to your Netflix Que. Enjoy!
